Happy 232 nd Birthday!!! July 4, 1776 - 2008 This is a beautiful photo of a giant American flag in Arizona. The photo is authentic, UN-Touched and was taken on regular Kodak 35 mm film. The person who took the picture couldn't believe the image created by the sun's rays. A Prayer for Our Nation Almighty God, we remember that you are the Lord of all nations including the United States of America. We are mindful that we stand responsible and accountable before you as we consider our stewardship as citizens of this land. Make us equal to our challenges, O Lord. Guide us into providing justice for all. Turn our hearts toward our children that we may teach them rightly to please you in their citizenship. Most of all, keep us aware of your providential care and guidance that we may never assume that we are totally on our own. Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Our Parish food drive during July and August Jesus said, "Peter, you are a rock and on this rock foundation I will build my church...I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven, what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven." Matthew 16:18-19 Michelangelo was hired by Pope Paul III to paint The Last Judgment in the Vatican. As it neared completion, a minor papal official kept pestering the artist for a private sneak preview of it. His patience at an end, Michelangelo decided to teach the official a lesson. He painted him among the sinners being punished in hell. When the official learned about his fate, he complained to the pope, who said, "As Peter's successor, Jesus gave me the authority to prohibit and to permit on earth and in heaven, but he said nothing over the authority over hell. So I'm afraid the matter is out of my hands." |

7:00 am We ask for God's Blessing on our Parish Family! 9:00 am + Jozef and + Julia Pajzinka by Daughter, Terezia Barna and Family 11:00 am (Chapel) + Helen Lissy by Paul and Ann Sedlak Two men with very different characters and backgrounds become the greatest pillars of the Church. Peter, the fisherman from provincial Galilee, was a rather impulsive man, always ready with an answer, even to walk on water! His audacity did not prevent from denying Jesus, but his sorrow and love for Jesus restored him to become shepherd of Jesus' sheep. Paul, educated in the city of Jerusalem, was such a zealous Jew he persecuted the Christians. His experience of the Risen Christ made him the missionary to the Gentiles, defending their freedom against the demands of the Judaizers. Both die in Rome, leaving behind the testimony, Christians would go from Rome to the ends of the earth. A Little Time Away Lorain, Ohio, my hometown and birth place will be my destination beginning this Wednesday, July 2 nd. My eldest sister, Margaret, is celebrating her 85 th Birthday and this observance will also allow for a long-awaited family reunion. With fraternal appreciation, Fr. Michael Yurista is able to substitute for me at next Sunday's three Divine Liturgies. With the good Lord's help I will return on July 9 th. For any urgent issue, just call the Rectory; I'll be informed...
